What this activity teaches

'The Internet', 'The Net'; 'The Web'; The World Wide Web'...

These terms are often used interchangeably leading many to believe they are the same thing, but they're not.

During this activity, children will learn what a network is and that the Internet is the biggest computer network in the world.  They will be able to identify a number of services that use the Internet - including the world wide web.  Pupils will apply what they have learned offline by going online to follow a fun cyberhunt.

By physically 'acting out' networks and how data is sent over them they will gain a better understanding of what the internet is, how it works and how it benefits the world we live in.
